Buying Guide · Brisbane · AS 5039 Security Screens
Crimsafe is the best-known name in stainless steel security screens, but it isn’t the only genuine option. Here is what to compare before you sign a quote — whoever you buy from.
The Short Version
Yes. Several brands make stainless steel and aluminium security screens that are tested to Australian Standard AS 5039. In Brisbane, the ones we install are the CommandeX range: SecureView Eclipx, SaltWaterSeries and Xceed.
“Better” depends on your home, not the logo. The things that matter are the mesh, the test certificate for the exact screen you’re buying, the warranty terms, and who measures and installs it. We sell CommandeX, so we’re not neutral — which is why this page tells you what to ask any supplier, including us.

01 / The Checklist
1. The AS 5039 certificate. Ask for the test certification for the exact product and lock configuration you’re being quoted. AS 5039 is the Australian Standard for security screens, and a compliant product has passed independent tests for impact, jemmying, pulling, knife shear and probing. “Looks solid” is not a test result.
2. The mesh. Ask for the stainless grade (304 or 316) and the wire thickness. 316 marine grade resists salt corrosion better, which matters near the bay and the coast. Inland, other grades can perform well. Ask each supplier to explain why they chose theirs for your street.
3. The frame and fastening. A strong mesh is only as good as how it’s held. Ask how the mesh is fixed into the frame, how many fixings there are, and whether the lock is a three-point lock.
4. The warranty — the full terms. Compare the standard warranty and the extended one, and ask what you must do to qualify for the longer term (registration windows, cleaning and care products). A “15-year” headline can have conditions attached.
5. Who measures and installs. Many Brisbane installers are sales teams that pass the job to a crew. Ask who measures your openings, who installs them, and who you call if a door sticks in six months.
6. A like-for-like quote. Quote the same openings, the same door types, the same colours and the same locks from each supplier. Otherwise you’re comparing different jobs, not different brands.
02 / Side by Side
These are the two top-tier stainless steel screens we’re most often asked to compare. The Crimsafe figures come from Crimsafe’s own published information, checked on 25 October 2026 — confirm them with Crimsafe or your installer before you decide, as ranges and terms change.
| SecureView Eclipx | Crimsafe Ultimate | |
|---|---|---|
| Mesh | 0.8mm woven 316 marine-grade stainless steel | 0.9mm 304 structural-grade stainless steel |
| Standard warranty | 11 years, extendable to 15 | 10 years, extendable to 15 when registered online within 60 days |
| Mid-rails | No mid-rails | Ask your installer |
| AS 5039 | Tested when fitted with a three-point lock | Ask for the certificate for the configuration quoted |
SecureView Eclipx details are from the CommandeX product range. Crimsafe details are from crimsafe.com.au. Warranty terms and conditions apply to both. Neither brand is automatically “stronger” — the certificate and the installation decide that.
03 / Our Range
The all-rounder
316 marine-grade stainless mesh, no mid-rails, up to a 15-year warranty. The one we recommend by default when there’s no strong reason to go cheaper or more heavy-duty.
Close to the water
The same 316 mesh with a heavy-duty powder coat tested to 3,000 hours of salt spray. For bayside and coastal Brisbane homes. Warranty up to 20 years.
Tighter budget
Perforated aluminium mesh, a genuine AS 5039 security screen at a lower price, in a wider colour range. Good for screening many windows inland.
04 / Straight Talk on Cost
We don’t publish a price list, because two homes with the same number of doors can be very different jobs. The things that move the price are:
Send us a quote you’ve already received and we’ll price the same openings in the same style, so you can compare properly.
05 / How We Work
Slideit is a mobile, owner-operated business. The two of us come to your home with samples, measure every opening, and come back to install the finished screens. There’s no showroom, no sales rep and no subcontractor in between. Typical turnaround is 3–4 weeks from deposit to install, and every job carries $20 million public liability insurance.

Straight Answers
Yes. Several brands make stainless steel and aluminium security screens tested to AS 5039. We install the CommandeX range — SecureView Eclipx, SaltWaterSeries and Xceed — across Brisbane. Whichever brand you consider, ask for the AS 5039 certificate for the exact product and lock quoted.
They are different brands of stainless steel security screen, and neither is automatically better. SecureView Eclipx uses 0.8mm woven 316 marine-grade stainless steel; Crimsafe Ultimate uses 0.9mm 304 structural-grade stainless steel, according to Crimsafe’s own information. Compare the test certificates, warranty terms and the installer. We sell Eclipx, so please treat our view as one input and check the figures yourself.
Yes. SecureView Eclipx is tested to AS 5039 when fitted with a three-point lock, and the manufacturer can supply the paperwork. We’re happy to show it to you at the measure.
Often, yes. Perforated aluminium screens such as Xceed are genuine AS 5039 security screens at a lower price than stainless steel mesh, with more colour options. They suit windows on inland homes better than doors or homes close to the bay. We recommend the right mesh opening by opening at your free measure.
