Room by Room

One Window Covering Rarely Suits Every Room

The bedroom wants blockout. The sliding door wants something that draws right out of the way. The bathroom wants a finish that shrugs off steam. That’s why we quote room by room at your home — not from a photo, and never one-covering-fits-all.

We supply and install five window coverings across North Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. Here’s what each one does best — and an honest guide to picking between them.

01 / Choose Your Covering

02 / The Honest Guide

Which Window Covering for Which Room?

Match the covering to the job the room actually does, and you’ll only buy once:

Your situation Start with Why
Bedroom, shift worker, nursery Roller blinds (blockout) Darkness on demand, clean look
Sliding door or wide window span Vertical blinds Draws fully aside, rotates for light
Home office, kitchen, street-facing rooms Venetian blinds Tilt for privacy without losing daylight
Living and dining rooms that feel bare Curtains Softness and warmth blinds can’t match
Bathroom, laundry, humid rooms Fauxwood plantation shutters Water resistant, wipe-down louvres
Forever home, premium street appeal Plantation shutters Built-in finish, materials warranty to 20 yr

Plenty of homes mix coverings — blockout rollers in the bedrooms, verticals on the slider, shutters up front. We quote it as one job, room by room.

03 / The Spec-Backed One

Plantation Shutters: Timber or Fauxwood?

Our plantation shutters are custom-made through CommandeX, so unlike most window coverings, every claim below comes straight off the factory spec sheet. The choice comes down to two materials:

  Plantation Timber Fauxwood (PVC)
Materials warranty 5 years 20 years
Paint warranty 3 years 3 years
Water resistant Moderate Yes — suits wet areas
Finishes Painted or stained (grain visible) Painted whites
Sustainably sourced Yes — plantation forests No

Both materials have low thermal conductivity, which helps keep heating and cooling costs down. Then it’s all custom: three blade sizes (63.5mm, the most common 88.9mm, or 114.3mm), fixed, hinged, sliding or bi-fold panels, inside or outside mount, hidden, centre or offset tilt rods — and special shapes beyond the standard rectangle. Panels over 1800mm tall take a midrail. Warranty terms and conditions apply.

04 / Straight Talk

Thinking DIY Blinds? We Checked Their Prices

The online DIY blind stores will courier you a box of blinds and an instruction sheet. You do the measuring, the ladder work and the levelling — and if a measurement is out, the redo is on you.

Here’s the part they don’t advertise: when we compared their prices against our own quotes, the difference was surprisingly small. For about the money you’d spend measuring and fitting it yourself, we measure it, supply it and install it — and if anything’s out, that’s our problem to fix, not yours.

05 / Straight Talk on Cost

What Affects the Price of Blinds, Curtains & Shutters?

Everything is made to measure, so the price follows your windows. What moves it:

  • Covering type — blinds are the entry point, curtains sit with their fabric choice, and plantation shutters are the premium end.
  • Window size and count — bigger windows use more material, and doing the whole home in one visit works out better per window than one room at a time.
  • Fabric and finish choices — blockout versus light-filtering fabrics, sheer versus lined curtains, timber versus fauxwood shutters.
  • Fit and access — inside or outside mount, high windows and awkward access change the install side of the quote.

We measure at your home and the quote is a fixed price for your exact windows — no dollar-per-metre guesswork, and no estimate that grows on install day.

06 / How It Works

See the Fabrics in Your Own Light — We Come to You

A fabric that looks perfect under showroom lights can look completely different against your wall colour at home. That’s the quiet advantage of a mobile business: you choose your coverings in the room they’ll live in.

  1. Get in Touch

Call or send the quote form and we’ll ring back to book a time that suits — mornings, afternoons, around the school run.

  2. Samples in Your Room

We measure every window and hold the samples up in your actual light, against your actual walls — bedrooms, sliders, wet areas and all.

  3. Made to Measure

Your blinds, curtains or shutters are custom-made to our site measurements — nothing off the rack, nothing trimmed to fit.

  4. Installed & Levelled

We install on a day that suits, typically 3–4 weeks from deposit, and check every drop, tilt and draw with you before we leave.

Two owners, one van, no commissioned showroom staff — and $20 million in public liability insurance on every job.

Straight Answers

Blinds & Curtains FAQ

Are blinds or curtains better?

Neither wins everywhere — it depends on the room. Blinds give precise light control and an easy-care finish, curtains add softness and warmth that hard coverings can’t match, and many living rooms layer both. We bring samples of each, so you can compare them on your own windows.

What blinds are best for sliding doors?

Vertical blinds are the classic answer — the blades draw fully aside just like the door, and rotate to control light and privacy while it’s closed. Curtains on a wide track are the softer alternative. We’ll measure the opening and show you both options at your free quote.

Should I choose timber or fauxwood plantation shutters?

Pick by room. Fauxwood (PVC) shutters are water resistant with a 20-year materials warranty, which makes them the honest choice for bathrooms, laundries and kitchens. Plantation timber is sustainably sourced and can be stained so the grain shows, with a 5-year materials warranty. Conditions apply to both.

Do you charge for the measure and quote?

No — the measure and quote is free. We come to your home, measure every window, bring the samples with us, and leave you a fixed price for your exact windows. There’s no showroom to visit and no obligation to go ahead.

Is DIY cheaper than having blinds supplied and installed?

Often not by much. When we compared popular online DIY blind prices with our own supply-and-install quotes, the gap was surprisingly small — and DIY still leaves you the measuring, the fitting and the risk of a mis-measured window. With us, a wrong measurement is our problem, not yours.

How long do blinds, curtains or shutters take to install?

Typically 3–4 weeks from deposit to installation, with everything custom-made to our site measurements in between. We’ll confirm the lead time for your coverings when we quote, and we do whole-home jobs in a single install visit wherever we can.
